Lebron James' House

Well since I haven't been running much, I haven't been posting much. I'll probably test out my leg soon with a slow mile and see how it feels. So until I start running again, here's some pics of Lebron James' new house about a minute from my apartment.

Boston Trail Run

Tonight Brian and I went over to Happy Days and ran on the Boston Trail Run. This is a small 3 mile loop that has a few small rolling hills. Brian didn't want to run much since the BT50K is Saturday and I didn't want to run much since my quad has been hurting. After we went about 1.5 miles my quad started hurting pretty bad again. I had only taken off about 5 or 6 days until I got the itch to run again, but this was probably a mistake. I'll be taking off more time now for sure.

Headlands Beach

Today I met my sister Jamie at Headlands Beach in Mentor, OH. I've been here once before and it's a great beach! It's the longest in Ohio. I saw on the radar earlier that the clouds would be clearing by 12:30 or so. On my drive there, I noticed the clouds go from overcast to partly cloudy to clear blue sky which lasted all day. There was also a nice breeze the whole day. The waves on the lake were 2-4 ft. and reminded me of the ocean.

After staying at the beach for about 5 hours, we headed over to Pickle Bills to grab something to eat. This place is amazing! They have great seafood and are in an awesome location with seating outside by the river. I got Gulf Shrimp and Jamie got a burger with a fruit Tequila drink. If only we could do this everyday!!

Boston Store to Lock 29

After the concert, Brian and I went for a run starting at the Boston Store parking lot. We knew we couldn't get a long run in since it was already 8:30 and we didn't have headlamps. My brother wanted to test out his new shoes on the trails, but since it was going to get dark, we thought it might be better to just run on the Towpath.

We saw a couple deer and their mother early during the run standing right by the boardwalk. On the way back, it had gotten alot darker and the lightening bugs looked really cool. It looked like a techno rave out there. My quad has been bothering me recently and started hurting on the way back. I'm going to take some time off to rest it, stretch and lift a little to strengthen it. I want to run Columbus in October, but I will have to be good by the beginning of August if I want to get sufficient training in. We finished tonight's run with 5 miles.

Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band Concert

My brother told me about a free concert tonight at Howe Meadow featuring Carlos Jones so I decided to go. I first heard this Jamaican band from Lloyd Thomas (who is friends w/ one of the guitarists) after the No Frills FA.

The music was great and the weather was perfect. Here's some videos I took of the concert...

Here's a video my brother took on my camera that we thought got deleted. This song "Leave A Trail" was dedicated to Vertical Runner.

Top O' Ledges

I went over to Hinckley Reservation tonight to try out the trails on the northern side. I parked at Top O' Ledges which is where I turned around last time. The beginning was pretty slow going since it was mostly downhill with roots, rocks and ledges. The ledges reminded me of the ledges by Happy Days in the Cuyahoga Valley.

After I got off the trail by the ledges, I continued down by the lake, followed that for awhile, then hopped on the Metroparks' asphalt path. I stayed on that until the Spillway Picnic Area. There were a bunch of people here enjoying the park and some were swimming in front of the spillway.

On my way back, I saw some climbers by the ledges. It was a great run overall. It's always fun to explore new areas and trails. I'm not sure how far I ran, but I'm guessing about 5 based on time.
