Towpath - 20 Miles

This morning I started my run at Boston Store at 7:30. The plan was to go 20 miles. I haven't been doing great marathon training and haven't done a long run more than 13 or 14 miles, so I figured today was the day since Boston is fast approaching.

There were a lot of people out today enjoying the warmer temperature. I started out north and ran to mile marker 14. I had to turn around since the Towpath was closed due to construction. So I headed back to Boston Store and repeated a mile on the way back. I then ran to mile marker 23 and back to Boston Store for 20 total.

I felt pretty good today considering this was my first real long run. I deliberately slowed down today since I always go too fast on long runs. Afterward, I enjoyed a nice juicy Blue Shroom burger and a beer at the Winking Lizard.

Quail Hallow State Park/Hartville

Today I drove out to Quail Hallow State Park, which is in Hartville, and went for a 9.5 mile run on the country roads. I mapped out a route on Gmaps Pedometer and just wrote down the road names so I would remember where to turn on my run!

When I started out, I thought "Man, what am I doing out here?". It was cold, windy, and snowing a bit. After about 3 miles though I was into it and enjoying the nice country scenery, minus the cow manure truck that passed me :)

Snowshoeing

This weekend I had planned on running the Dirty Dog 10K race at Mosquito Lake and a long run at the Cuyahoga Valley on Sunday. Both these plans were scratched since we got about 10 inches of snow Friday into Saturday. So instead of running today, I decided to join Brandon Russell, Courtney Baker, Gavin White and my brother to go snowshoeing.

I was excited since I have never gone before. You can rent snowshoes for only $5 for the whole day at the Kendall Lake Sports Center. We headed out towards Kendall Hills. From here we went off-piste to who knows where. We headed away from Kendall Lake for quite awhile until we decided we better make our way back.

We ended making a big loop and finding the Salt Run trail. I had a great time clomping through the snow. We slid down and climbed up many hills. The snowshoes made walking pretty easy. I'm already looking forward to our next adventure, which could be soon since we're supposed to get another storm this week.
